Rota, Nino

Nino Rota(1911-1979), Italian composer, studied at the Milan Conservatory and Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome, moved to US and studied at the Curtis Institute. He is best known for his film scores, notably for the films of Fellini, Visconti, and Zeffirelli's Shakespeare's plays. In 1974 he received the Oscar Academy Award for the best original score of "Godfather". Besides film scores, he composed 10 operas, 5 ballets and orchestral music.
